Vice President of Development

Summary:

The Rottman Group has been retained by Kids Care Dental & Orthodontics (www.kidscaredental.com) to find a Vice President of Development. Kid’s Care is a well-capitalized and quality lead DSO focusing on the pediatric continuum of care. It has a very positive culture and outstanding leadership. This is a newly created position based on growth as they anticipate doubling in size in the next 5 years.

Organization:

Founded in 2002, Kids Care has evolved from a single site pediatric dental office to a fully integrated pediatric oral care platform with 27 practices, comprised of 70 providers mostly concentrated in Northern California. They are expanding beyond this region, both in California and other Western states.

In 2018 Kids Care completed a sizable series B recapitalization with RiverGlade Capital, (www.rivergladecapital.com) a quality PE firm with strong healthcare services experience. They expect to significantly expand their footprint throughout the Western US, growing to 120+ providers over the next 5 years. Though they have had moderate and realistic growth goals, they are ahead of plan, have a very active pipeline and the capital commitments to continue to outperform their plan.

Very readily you will find a deliberate, positive culture focused on creating the very best experience for patients and environment for staff. This comes directly from CEO Janet Widman’s leadership. Janet is a very dynamic and well accomplished healthcare executive. Janet has been leading Kids Care for the last 2 ½ years. Under Janet’s leadership the organization has seen a dramatic transformation in identity, culture, and operations that has translated into financial success. In the relatively short time Janet has been here they have more than doubled revenue and tripled EBIDTA.

Janet has nearly 30 years of experience delivering significant growth for healthcare companies. She has been named

as one of the Bay Area’s most influential women by the San Francisco Business Times multiple times and led the

strategic expansion plan of Kids Care throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Prior to Kids Care, Janet was an Executive

Vice President at Blue Shield of California. Janet is well esteemed and is a board member for several other

organizations including a publicly traded energy company.

The Role:

As Vice President of Development, this person will report to the Chief Growth Officer, Josh Davis. Josh joined Kids Care in June of 2019, the first in this role for Kids Care. Prior to Kids Care, Josh lead the development for the Western US for US Oncology, a division of McKesson. He has a well accomplished history of success in healthcare development. In establishing the development function for Kids Care, this VP of Development is going to be a key member of this team.

There has been a very positive reception in the market to Kid’s Care. There is a tremendous amount of green space in this under developed sector. Because of this, they see tremendous opportunity to be aggressive in their development and have the capital backing to support it.

While there are supporting resources, this person is expected to be able to work autonomously and experientially will need to have been through the full practice acquisition process.

This person must be able to naturally build trust relationships with providers. They will have a fundamental working knowledge of practice operations and finance to be able to understand, communicate, and make general assessments of practice dynamics.

This person will need to be well organized and able to manage multiple projects at different stages of development.

Compensation:

There will be a very competitive base salary, incentive compensation, and full benefit plan.
