Manager of Talent Management
Austin or San Antonio, TX
Summary:

We’ve been retained by Tenderheart Health Outcomes, www.tenderheart.com, to find a Manager of Talent Management, a newly created role based on current and anticipated growth. Beyond just talent acquisition, this is a true human capital management role. This is a great opportunity to be an integral part of a leadership team, a very visible role, in a growing, innovative, and successful company which will continue to grow.

Company:

Tenderheart , based in Austin, was founded in 2005. Initially they provided a broad range of durable medical equipment (DME) supply management and delivery.

In 2015, under the leadership of CEO, James Whittenburg, Tenderheart made a unique strategic shift in their business strategy that’s proven very successful. Partnering with managed care organizations, Tenderheart is the first, under a capitated compensation model, to shift from a commodity to a value-based patient care approach focused on incontinence care. As a result, the Tenderheart model has proven to provide higher quality patient care at a meaningfully reduced cost for payors.

In 2020, RiverGlade Capital (www.rivergladecapital.com) invested in Tenderheart . RiverGlade is a healthcare services-focused private equity firm that invests in founder-owned, high-quality, differentiated businesses. RiverGlade partners with companies that have demonstrated strong organic growth and where value can be accelerated through human capital investments, operational improvements, strategic planning, and dynamic organic and inorganic growth initiatives. They have an outstanding reputation and history of success in the healthcare services sector, building sustainable organizations.

Tenderheart is currently managing the incontinence needs for 40,000+ home-based patients per month in 5 states. They have another 6 states that they are going to be on-boarding. They anticipate and are planning to double in size over the next 2-3 years.

In 2022, in response to clients’ needs under the Medical Lose Ratio dynamic, (I’m happy to expand on the explanation of this), Tenderheart, through what they call Tenderheart Rewards, put together 10 different themed wellness boxes. This was very successful in a short period of time and tripled in 2023.

In a time where a lot of organizations are trying to keep afloat, this is an exciting and energized environment at Tenderheart that is thriving.

Corporately based in Austin, Tenderheart currently has approximately 160 total employees. They have an operations support center in San Antonio where there are approximately 130 people.
Role:

The Manager of Talent Management is a newly created based on Tenderheart’s current and anticipated growth. This person will have a lot of visibility, initially report to the CEO, James Whittenburg.

Historically, they have had a fairly rudimentary hiring process. Creating this role is a decision to create a much more deliberate and professional approach to talent management.

Beyond talent acquisition (recruitment and selection), this person will be more strategically involved in the ongoing talent management and maximization within the organization. This will incorporate working closely with leaders on identifying high potential individuals for ongoing growth and development.

This person will have a very dynamic relationship all levels of the organization.

Given the size and stage of development of Tenderheart, to me, this is something someone can really wrap their arms around; take ownership of, and make a meaningful difference in the success of the organization.
Ideal Candidate:

-
Bachelor’s Degree Required, Human Resources Management Degree preferred.
-
Exceptional knowledge of hiring/compliance laws.
-
Prior experience in Talent Acquisition and/or Operations.
-
Call center staffing within the healthcare industry strongly preferred.
-
In-depth understanding of appropriate duties and compensation for each position.
-
Must have exceptional understanding of recruiting and staffing processes in addition to related legal regulations.
-
Strong leadership capabilities in the areas of coaching, feedback and developing others.
-
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and pivot recruitment strategies based on the labor market.
-
Must possess strong oral and written communication skills along with strong presentation skills.
Because Tenderheart’s growth and success, things move quickly. This person needs to be someone agile that can adapt and lead change. Even better, this person needs to be part of the strategy looking forward and anticipating needs.
