The
Director of Surgery will lead and oversee the Surgical Services Department,
Outpatient
Surgery, PACU, and Pre-op at both St Vincent Infirmary Medical Center (542-beds)
and St. Vincent Doctor’s Hospital (308-beds).
St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center has a total of 22 operating rooms in
the main area, and an additional 2 O.R.s in the outpatient surgery area.
They are currently running 14 of the main O.R.s daily.
The main ORs and the outpatient surgery unit average 1000 cases per
month. Approximately 450 open-heart
surgeries are performed at St. Vincent annually.
St. Vincent Doctors Hospital is located across the street from the main
Medical Center, and houses the women and children’s health units.
There are 12 ORs at St. Vincent Doctors, which average 250 cases per
month.
The position was vacated in March due to retirement.
There is a great opportunity for St. Vincent to bring in a director who
can focus on business leadership, efficiency, and productivity for the surgical
service department. There is an
assistant director who manages most of the “people operations” and
day-to-day logistics, freeing up the new director to continue the further
development of the department’s operations.
This position will report to the Vice President of Medical Affairs, Dr.
David Hall. Dr. Hall has been with
St. Vincent for over 5 years, and is an administrator who believes in the
abilities of the department directors. St.
Vincent is looking for someone who can be an autonomous leader in an open
working environment.
