Summary:

The Rottman Group has been retained to find a Controller to lead the financial operations of a 21-physician, 6 location oncology practice in Las Vegas , Nevada .  This is a very successful, multi-facetted practice that is part of U.S. Oncology, the most successful, largest network (900+ physicians) of cancer treatment services in the United States .

The Organizations:

Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada (CCCN) (www.cccnevada.com)

Established in 1974, is the premier cancer treatment provider in Nevada .  CCCN is comprised of 12 medical, 5 radiation, 4 pediatric oncologists, and 4 CNPs practicing in 6 locations in the Las Vegas market. CCCN treats between 400-450 patients each day.  CCCN continues to grow and plans to grow to 25 physicians by mid-2006.  They are currently in process of opening two replacement facilities that will expand one site from 4,800 to 7,800 square feet, the other from 6,000 to 17,000 square feet (adding a PET/CT and radiation treatment services).  In total there are approximately 230 employees.

One unique dynamic exists in way of career opportunity:  By being part of the U.S. Oncology network, there are other levels of opportunity and career advancement that one doesn’t typically have in a stand alone practice environment.  As an example, the previous Executive Director of CCCN was recently promoted to VP of Western Regional Operations, a newly created role because of company growth.

Secondarily, there is a superior level of consultative support that U.S. Oncology provides in way of expertise and resources.  This ranges from research, to finance, to IT support, as well as a capital partner.

U.S. Oncology: (www.usoncology.com)

US Oncology is the nation's largest health-care services network devoted exclusively to cancer treatment and research, and a pioneer in community-based cancer care since 1993. Today, their network of over 850 affiliated physicians delivers care to more than half a million cancer patients each year - including over 15% of all newly diagnosed U.S. cases. In fact, they serve more cancer patients than any other single health-care organization in America .

Building upon their network of more than 450 sites of services, including 78 cancer centers, in 30 states, they ensure the latest technology and treatment advances at the local level through three core services:

Working in partnership with leading oncologists, U.S. Oncology’s goal is to provide physicians and their patients access to a full range of capabilities - including diagnostic imaging, radiation, chemotherapy, pharmaceuticals, clinical trials and more - in local community-based outpatient settings. As a result, physicians have access to the resources they need to ensure that their patients receive the care they need, without leaving the people they care about.

Through US Oncology's core services - plus their unparalleled national scale - they are advancing the delivery of high-quality oncology care in many ways.

They are accelerating the pace of cancer research by accruing patients to clinical trials, allowing more patients to have access to new molecules and therapies. They are bringing state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment technologies to local towns and cities. They are leveraging economies-of-scale to reduce health-care costs. And they are working with patient advocacy groups to drive public-policy efforts.

Putting it simply, U.S. Oncology is a strong force in the war on cancer, employing their nationwide resources to fight cancer in every way possible. In doing so, they are driving an innovative new services model and helping oncologists deliver the best possible care.

No doubt that all know something about Las Vegas .  There are many facets to this incredible city.  With 5,000 people moving to Las Vegas each month, it is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States .  It is safe to say that the Las Vegas of today is different than it was yesterday, and will be again different tomorrow.  Outside of “The Strip”, (actually an ever shrinking proportionate part of Las Vegas ), one would find a much more “typical” city, but one that is thriving economically, growing in population and services with an equally growing infrastructure to support such.

Las Vegas itself has over 500,000 people.  Clark County has a population of approximately 1.6M people.  Las Vegas has continued to rank first nationally in employment growth since 1995.

Away from the man-made excitement is a world of natural beauty.  The Grand Canyon , Valley of Fire , Lake Mead , and the High Sierra mountains are all part of the recreational opportunities of the area.
